International Seminar on Atomic Processes in Plasmas ISAPP July 29 - 30 1999 National Institute for Fusion Science Toki, Japan < Final Announcement > (Topics marked with # are changed or new from the 2nd announcement.) Registration (#) The registration desk will be open at the fourth floor meeting room (Room A3 - 401) in the National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) from 8:30 to 9:30 am on July 29. The registration fee is 5,000 Yen. Only Japanese Yen in cash can be accepted. This fee covers the cost for the refreshments during the seminar and does not cover meals at the NIFS cafeteria and transportation between hotels and NIFS. **Early registration for ISAPP** We will be pleased to welcome you for early registration in the evening of July 28 (Thur.) from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the meeting room on the fourth floor (Room A3 - 401) in NIFS. Participants who arrive on July 28 are invited to this early registration. A light snack with wine and cheese will be served. Money exchange (#) Near NIFS there is no bank to change foreign currency to Japanese cash. Foreign participants are strongly requested to obtain Japanese cash before coming to Tajimi. You cannot use travelers check in NIFS and in town. Generally banks open from 9:00am to 3:00pm, from Monday to Friday. In Tajimi the Juroku Bank near Tajimi bridge (15min walk from the station) can accept foreign currency at 11:00-14:30. Instructions for Poster Presentations We will have available a poster board (90cm W x 120cm H) and pushpins for each person's poster presentation. Contributors are requested to put up their posters during the period of registration, and leave them up throughout the seminar. Please use large enough characters and/or figures on your poster in order for them to be clearly seen by the participants. Party A party will be held in "Yamagami Spa" near NIFS in the evening on July 30 (Fri.). You are cordially invited to join it. Buses will leave for the Spa at 17:00 from the entrance of NIFS. There is no additional charge. Technical Tour of LHD at NIFS We invite you on a technical tour of LHD (Large Helical Device, the world's largest stellarator) in the evening (19:00 - 20:00pm) of July 29. Please sign up on the application sheet at the registration desk. There is a public bus service to Tajimi station at 20:30. Climate The highest, average and lowest temperature during the period of the meeting in Toki are approximately 32C, 27C and 25C, respectively. The average relative humidity is approximately 80%. Therefore we expect very hot and humid weather. The meeting rooms are however air-conditioned. Sometimes we have heavy rain which can continue for a long time. Umbrellas are recommended. Please take the bus for "Kenkyu Gakuen Toshi Center" (NIFS) at the No. 3 bus stop in front of LOTTERIA (a fast food restaurant). In case the bus is full, you are recommended to take a taxi (2,000yen) , because the bus service to NIFS is not frequent. On Saturday and Sunday (July 31(Sat)) there is no direct public bus to/from NIFS. From NIFS, you have a 15 min. walk down the hill to the bus stop "Kotani guchi" from which there is a public bus service to Tajimi station. ** Time table of the public bus service (Tajimi station - NIFS) ** The public bus for "Kenkyu Gakuen Toshi Center" (NIFS) leaves the No.3 bus stop at : 8:05(*), 8:35(*), 9:30, 10:30, 13:00, 14:30, 16:05, 17:05 (weekday only), (*) direct bus to NIFS -- NIFS is the terminus (340yen, 15min.). From NIFS to Tajimi station, bus stop in front of NIFS.
